AFFORDABLE GPS CYCLING TECHNOLOGY FROM GARMIN BRINGS NEW LIFE TO EVERY RIDE

The majority of South African cycling enthusiasts who don’t aspire to serious competitive racing just want to get out and enjoy the ride without fussing over expensive gear and electronics. However it’s an all too familiar situation for these budget savvy cyclists to wonder just how far and how fast they have ridden.

Enter the wonderfully intuitive, sleek and lightweight Edge 200, the latest innovation from Garmin and the ultimate in affordable easy-to-use GPS-enabled cycling computers.

Packed with incredible tracking and sharing capabilities the Edge 200 has been specially designed to deliver essential ride information and open up a whole new world of cycling and adventure for those who enjoy fitness training, everyday rides, club excursions and any adventure ride worth reviewing and reliving later.

With its simplified interface, the Edge 200 allows for the effortless tracking of speed, distance, time and calories whilst on the go and its high sensitivity GPS receiver means less time spent setting up and more time spent riding, with no calibration, sensors or magnets required. Simply fire it up, acquire GPS satellites and go!

The device stores up to 130 hours of ride data too which is categorised according to activity allowing cyclists to look up the fastest, longest or last ride to keep motivated and on track. Detailed post ride feedback can be reviewed at home by simply downloading data at a click of a button using the devices handy USB port.

The Edge 200 provides users with the additional benefit of joining a worldwide network of cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts in logging, tracking and sharing their rides on Garmin Connect, a completely addictive and free feature rich on-line training portal. Apart from additional data fields and handy features for more in-depth ride analysis on the website cyclists can even download rides from other Garmin Connect™ users for virtual competitions.

With the Edge 200 users can keep on pedalling for quite a while too, thanks to 13-14 hours battery life and a USB interface for easy charging. Additional features include neat auto settings such as auto pause when at traffic lights and auto lap timer, with the option to set alerts when a predetermined target is reached in distance, time or calories which makes it easier and more fun to achieve goals.

Great too is that the Edge 200 brings new life to old rides with the Courses feature used to challenge performance on previous rides with a digital cyclist that shows speed relative to past performance along with an indication of how far ahead or behind the user is.

“The Edge 200 adds so much more to cycling that no ride will ever be the same again” says Michelle Letcher, Head of Fitness, Garmin Southern Africa. “Whether riding for fun, fitness or to simply increase that competitive edge, the Edge 200 is a must for any cyclist that wants to live beyond and take their ride to the next level.”
