Marine planning is simple with Garmin HomePort
Garmin’s newest planning software allows planning from home

Avnic Trading, official distributor of Garmin Marine products, is pleased to announce the release of HomePort, Garmin’s newest trip planning software.

This new marine planning software is a must-have tool for mariners heading out on the open water. HomePort enables the use of existing BlueChart data from your pre-programmed data card to help plot a course and/or waypoints on your PC. You can then transfer this planned trip back to your chartplotter and head out on your adventure.

“HomePort allows you to plan your trip from the comfort and warmth of your home, leaving you more time to enjoy your voyage,” says Mike Clarke, head of marine at Avnic Trading, the distributors for Garmin in South Africa.

“HomePort provides a complete marine planning solution that can be used with both traditional and fishing charts,” says Clarke. “When planning a big trip, marine enthusiasts can input a few key details and use HomePort to calculate speed and fuel flow.”

In addition the HomePort application will also help predict tides, depth profiles (with g2 Vision), and more. It can plot a course to avoid hidden underwater hazards and keep your vessel away from shallow or rocky shorelines. You can easily create point-to-point routes, determine distance and bearing measurements between checkpoints, and calculate your estimated travel time for each leg of the journey.

Homeport is available on pre-programmed microSD/SD card.
